We've been thinking about this for a while. We try really hard to stay in touch with facebook on the island. There are enough facebook pages and groups about the island that even thinking about trying to keep up with other social media on the island makes our collective eyes cross. But, we do try to keep up with various Galveston facebook pages and groups; Galveston Eats, Completely Galveston, All Things Galveston, Galveston Talk, Galveston Island, Vacation Rentals Galveston TX. But, I digress a little. My point in mentioning these facebook pages (nevermind the several that we manage for our various vacation rental properties) is a question that we see posted in all of these groups regularly:
Where is the best pizza on the island?
Or a variation on the question:
Where is the best "local" pizza on the island?
We thought perhaps we could help. So we created a searchable sortable directory of Galveston Island Restaurants.
Just follow the above link to get a list of restaurants on the island that we have compiled. It includes several chain restaurants like Salt Grass or Bubba Gump's Shrimp. It also includes several food trucks. It does not include fast food like McDonalds, Burger King, KFC or Chic Fillet. Once you have clicked through to the restaurant directory, in the search box at the top, you can type in what you are looking for; "pizza", "Seafood", "Steak", "Burger". You will get back a list of restaurants that serve what you are looking for. If you want to be a little more specific, you can enter more than one term in the search box, but you have to put a comma between your choices. Say, you only want local pizza places. You would type "local,pizza" into the search box. It will give you a list of local pizza places. Or you know you want a burger and the kids want pizza. Put "burger,pizza" in the box.
We have not tackled the "Best" part of the questions, but we do plan to add a section for reviews later. I don't think we're up to eating at every restaurant on Galveston Island then giving you our reviews and expecting you to take our word for it. But, we do intend to add a review section later so you can see what others have to say about these restaurants.
